  • My 2 year Blogging Anniversary (10/12/2018)

Well this month is my second anniversary since I started this blog.   I wanted to do something special and didn't know what to write about. Well ask and you shall receive. This morning I received an email (no not from Ellen) from a man in New York who was concerned about his Aunt communicating online with a guy who says he is in the army on a peace keeping mission (you know the rest).   She is 61 and from the pictures my new friend sent me this guy is younger. Well he wanted my advice on what to do. He found my blog and read some of my stories. Well I called him back. Had an awesome conversation with him about his aunt and my blog. So I told him there are several things he can do: Encourage her to read my blog Have her call me and I will talk to her Contact the FBI Contact the Army I told several of my stories. We chatted for about a half hour. He told me he was good at investigating people. I joked that I would put him on my payroll to help me, of course I don't have a budget. LOL!! For a while I've wondered if I am helping anyone with my blog. I have fun catching these scammers in their lies etc. And I love posting my stories. I love talking about it to people. But am I helping anyone? The answer is YES. The fact that someone contacted me for advice about this really made me feel good. I am doing something worthwhile. I amazed myself on how much I've learned about online romance scammers. I want to continue the fight. Continue to remind women (and men) that you are worth more than these online boneheads. You have a purpose to life. You are AWESOME! I love the movie "Julie and Julia". It stars Meryl Streep and Amy Adams. It's about Julia Child the cookbook author and Julie Powell who lives in New York. Julie Powell wanted to write something and decided on a blog. She committed herself to a year to make all the recipes in Julia Child cookbook. Over 500 recipes. She made each and every one and blogged about it.   I've watched this movie many times. It was my inspiration to write a blog but didn't know what I would right about. My first blog in 2011 didn't last long. It was basically me bashing on the guy I broke up with. Then in 2016 when I decided to look into Online Dating, I had no idea what an adventure it would be for me. In October 2016, I deleted the old blog and began my journey as the StargateLady Online Dating Blog. Why Stargate? Love love love the show with Richard Dean Anderson. Plus it sounds really cool. I watch Julie and Julia when I need inspiration for next the marketing idea for my blog. It's amazing what I've come up with from that movie. One idea is making connections on LinkedIn with publishing company employees. The part in the movie where an article was published about Julie Powell in the newspaper and all the publishing companies that called and left her messages. Well I wrote down all the names of the companies and tried to connect with as many on LinkedIn. And literary agents too. I plan to put this into a book and you never know. I may need an agent someday. (A girl can dream). I want to thank you all for continuing to come back and read my crazy stories. And I ask you to continue to come back and tell everyone you know about it. And thank you to my new friend in New York for contacting me. You made my day. J So, get a glass of wine, make some popcorn and sit down and read my fun stories. And as always… NEVER SEND MONEY TO SOMEONE YOU DON'T KNOW!!!

  • New scam! (9/14/2018)

I sell stuff all the time on facebook's selling pages that are local.  It's easy and most are honest on there.  I SAID MOST!  Here is a new story for you to discuss amongst yourselves. This is what I posted on my blog facebook page. THIS IS GOOD!! Someone is trying to scam me from one of the sell pages on facebook. HILIAROUS! They have no clue who they are dealing with here. So I am selling a DVD set on facebook sell pages. I lower the price this morning and as soon as I get in my car to leave for work I see have a message from someone interested. So I respond back. (See picture). Well this fool emails me back. LOL!! So here is its email to me: “Thanks for responding, I'm ok with the price. i would like you to remove the advert from the list cos i want to make the purchase asap and i dont mind adding extra $50 to delete the ads from the list..Please let me know if a certified check is ok.? After the payment clears, my shipper will come and pick it up at your location.  I would have loved to come and take a look but I can't. My shipper will though. If you can get back to me with your details I'll get the check out asap. Need your full name and address, and your telephone number.” So my response is I only take paypal or cash. And its response back is “I would have love to pay you with cash, but it is due to my work shedule but i want to assure you a legit transaction ok..and it is after you get the check cash my mover will come for the pick up..pls kindly let me know if you are willing to sell for me?” Right out of scammer 101. So now here is my response back. “You’re a scammer. No thanks. I’ve heard this before.” And I send another one, “PayPal is online if you are serious. Nobody accepts checks from someone they don’t know” Perhaps I should have given it the address to the FBI in St. Louis and them send the fake check there.   LOL!!! Also as soon as I noticed I couldn’t view their profile on facebook and it wouldn’t let me send a message back through messenger I know this person was a scammer but I played along. That’s what the stargatelady does best. 😊 So this a warning, watch out for stuff like this too. Peace out!

  • Follow up on “Yes I know you. Faker!” (7/27/2018)

This is the story where I pretend like I know the guy.  If you haven't read it, please do. Well my co work who works for the cyber security department said I should forward this story to the FBI.  So I did.  I mailed the conversation to the local office.  Mentioned my friends name and where we work. Yesterday I got an email from a lady from the FBI (who also knows my wo worker).  Here is the email I got. Hi Patsy, It was refreshing to be provided information regarding romance scams where NO money was lost! It's also great you take the extra step to notify the banks because they'll review and even close down accounts if they suspect fraud. It wouldn't hurt to notify the dating website of the profile requesting money as well. Let me know if you have any questions and please tell Theresa I say hello. This was nice to hear to back from them.  I saved her email and in the future if anymore scammers share info I will forward it to her. REMEMBER:  DON'T SEND MONEY TO SOMEONE YOU DON'T KNOW!! THEY DON'T LOVE YOU!!  THEY LOVE YOUR MONEY!!!!

  • Fabian Christopher update (7/13/2018)

I just wanted to let you know I heard from the real Fabian Christopher on Facebook.  A co worker of mine read my blog and saw him on Facebook and sent him a private message about someone on twitter using his pictures.  He sent me a note that the person on twitter wasn't him.  Of course I already knew that. Anyway, I want to remind you that if you see any of the guys in the pictures that I post, to never approach them or be mean to them.  They may not realize their pictures are being used or they do and just want to be left alone and not bothered.   They are the innocent victims here.

  • WARNING: Fake Tyler Perry Facebook page (7/11/2018)

I love Tyler Perry.  I love his movies.  His movies are entertaining and real.  And of course the beloved Madea.  Who doesn't love her? Well the other day I got a friend request from Tyler Perry on facebook.  I knew it was fake.  If there is not a blue check on their profile, it's not verified therefore it's not a real account. Tyler Perry posted this video today.  Following his instructions I am sharing this.  I ask that you do the same.  Thanks! https://www.facebook.com/TylerPerry/videos/10157071609623268/

  • I made a video!!! (5/26/2018)

  • ON A MORE SERIOUS NOTE (5/21/2018)

As you know while I try to keep you all informed on the ways of the romance scammers and make it humorous, the story I am going to share with you isn't funny.  A girl I work with asked me to share this story of her friend and what happened to her when she met a guy on Plenty of Fish (POF). Please read and view the videos and share this information with everyone. Meeting guys online is a very scary thing now days.   I remember in the 80's doing the personals.   In my experience I never had anything bad happened.  Most of the time neither of us wanted to see the other again which was fine. But one rule my best friend and I had was you tell the other where you are meeting this guy for dinner so they know.  And if you leave you call and tell her.  I think this rule should apply still today but with one addition.  Have your friends at the restaurant as well keeping an eye on you and him.  In another table of course.  That's what girlfriends are for.  Watching your back and visa versa. Ladies!  We have to stick together!!!

  • Beware of Housing Scams (3/3/2018)

Okay, this is from my best friend MaryAnn.  Please read it and be aware.  Thanks MaryAnn for letting me share it. Please be aware!! ( lengthy post, but worth reading!)I just want people to be aware of a situation that happened to me today. I was at work, and when I came home, my neighbor informed me, that about 3pm, some guy that was driving a grey corvette, was driving up and down the alley, then proceeded to come into my yard, look around, and started taking pictures of my property. My neighbor happened to come out of her garage and see him, up on my deck, talking to himself, about how he would change things here. put in a pool, tear down my trees, etc.   She asked him what he was doing in my yard, and taking pictures?  She said, you need to get out of this yard, some one lives here.   He said my house was listed on Zillow, and I guess she didn't know her neighbors very well.  She then told him, again, he needed to leave. This really creeps me out!  I never used to lock my gates, but I guess I need to start.  I'm thankful my neighbor was home! Description of person involved – Age: 40-50, Sex: male Response from my alderman-There are all sorts of scams in this world which we live today and one is where scammers will list a photo of a home, either for sale or rent, for a real inexpensive price, in hopes that some unknowing person will pay them a deposit, only to discover later that the listed property was not theirs to sell and the presumed buyer/renter has just been scammed out of his/her hard earned money. This could be the case here. Please be aware of your surroundings, and look out for your neighbors!
